Burlap and Lace at Cornerstone Gardens in Sonoma

Sometimes a bride walks into our studio, and there is an instant connection. When we began to design the florals for Shanna’s wedding we knew we had found one of those brides. From the beginning, Shanna has been easy to work with and a lot of fun. Her wedding, which was held at one of our favorite Sonoma venues, Cornerstone Gardens, was absolutely stunning.  She had a vintage flair with light touches of pink, bringing in burlap contrasted with rhinestones for some extra bling.

For Shanna’s bouquet we wanted to make sure that it had the feminine elements while still keeping with her rustic feeling. We created the shape of her bouquet using fluffy Peonies in white and soft pink. To create the rustic feeling that this bouquet has, we used lighter flowers, which tend to have more movement. The Freesia and the Sweet Peas were able to bring in some green accents which gave depth and texture to the bouquet while still keeping a soft feeling. Putting the Swarovski Crystal wrap on the stems gave some sparkle while not overdoing it. Subtle, elegant, and sparkling, just like Shanna.

Shanna had 6 bridesmaids, including her Matron of Honor, and before we get to their bouquets we just want to mention how beautiful their dresses are! All in the same shade of the soft pink, but with different designs for each girl, stunning, and a great way to ensure that each girl feels beautiful in what they are wearing (and maybe they will even be able to wear it again!).  Their bouquets had  the same color palette as Shanna, but with less white. They were similar in shape as well, but used different flowers such as Dahlias and light pink Stock. The girls also had a custom wrap on their bouquets, instead of the sparkle that Shanna had, we used twine to mirror much of the décor that was being used.

Often times we have brides who decide to save money by not going all out on their ceremony. I think this is such a mistake, and when you see a ceremony that is as beautiful as Shanna’s you will understand why. It doesn’t take much to really create a special feeling, we used hanging mason jars with Peonies, Stock, and some greenery for a rustic touch. The great thing about pew arrangements like these are they are so easily moved to the reception where they can be used for décor on areas such as the bar, the gift table, the cake table, etc.

The most impressive part of this wedding, is that Shanna designed and planned everything herself! We were so impressed with how beautiful her wedding was that we even accidently thought that she was working with one of our wedding planners! (oops, sorry Shanna!) Shanna designed an altar for her ceremony using two vintage tables and a lace and burlap ribbon accent.  She had us create some beautiful arrangements to sit on top. She decided on three cylinder vases in different sizes, we wrapped them in burlap and ivory ribbon and used a brooch on the largest one. Each vase had different flowers in them. White peonies, light pink Stock, and white Delphinium. We also LOVED the sweetheart table she designed. Sometimes after looking at pictures of weddings everyday, the rustic look seems to be over used, but with Shanna’s spin on it I fell back in love with it! The XOXO banner, the Mr. and Mrs. frames, and the way that the table cloth contrasts with everything is just amazing.

I am telling you, we have the best, most talented, fun, and beautiful brides. Shanna was such a great bride to work with, and we even contact her for some advice on one of our own design projects! THANK YOU SHANNA, and congratulations to you and Darryl.
